Tanzania is set to open a high-tech modern health facility at
Mloganzila in the suburbs of Dar es Salaam city in January, next year.
The new medical centre is part of Tanzania’s public hospital Muhimbili
University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) extension plans reports

The construction of the new medical centre, Mloganzila campus, which will provide both medical services and academic programmes, began in April 2014.
The hospital’s infrastructure, purchasing and installing medical equipment including the ICT system among other things brought the total value of the hospital to 95.5 million US dollars.
The new hospital is expected to provide high quality medical services including training more medical experts and to strengthen the medical research in the East African country.
“Immediately after the hospital kicks off operations, it will reduce the number of patients who have been travelling abroad to seek medical attention as well as reducing the cost of medical services locally,’’ said MUHAS Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ephata Kaaya
The new medical facility has two wings with nine floors each, 571 hospital beds with a parking capacity for 476 vehicles, 12 operating theatres, maternity and emergency wards as well as several lecture rooms and medical staff offices. It also has modern food service areas and laundry, waste water and sewerage treatment plant, electrical and uninterrupted power supplies room, mechanical room, sophisticated MRI, CT scan and Ex-ray machines as well as high-tech control centre. In addition to all that the facility has an infectious disease ward, VIP and VVIP as well as psychiatric ward according to the Daily News.
